Google Reportedly Loses China Engineering Exec To Baidu

Baidu (BIDU) has hired Wang Jing, who left Google (GOOG) as engineering director of the company’s China operations, as a VP in charge of engineering, the Financial Times reports. The FT says that this is “the first ever switch by a senior Google employee to its local rival.”

With Google refusing to comply with China’s censorship rules and redirecting traffic to its Hong Kong site, it’s not all that surprising to see talent switch over to Baidu, the leader in China-based search.

BIDU today is actually down $24.39, or 3.9%, to $607.98.
