Ventas, Inc. to Acquire American Realty Capital Healthcare Trust, Inc. for $2.6B (VTR, HCT)

Shares of American Realty Capital Healthcare Trust, Inc. (HCT) skyrocketed on Monday morning after reports that Ventas, Inc. (VTR) has agreed to buy the company in a $2.6 billion deal.

Ventas announced that it will acquire all outstanding shares of HCT for $2.6 billion, or $11.33 per share. In the transaction, HCT shareholders will have the option of either 0.1688 Ventas common shares or $11.33 in cash for each share of HCT that they own.

Ventas has also reported that it is acquiring 29 independent living seniors housing communities in Canada.

American Realty Capital Healthcare shares were up $1.15, or 11.56%, during pre-market trading Monday. The stock is down 5.69% YTD.

Ventas shares were mostly flat during pre-market trading Monday. The stock is up 16.62% YTD.
